Post #22 – International Swaps and Derivatives Association – Washington, DC
A few years ago, I was hired to help ISDA at their office in downtown DC with their headshot updates. I ended up photographing 10 of their employees in different spots of the office and then taking them upstairs to get some headshots on the roof.
When I do headshot sessions, I like to do them in a few different spots so I can spend some time with the person I am photographing and get them to feel more comfortable. Usually when the session is a little more fluid going from a location to another location, people tend to feel a little less stiff and relax enough for a good portrait. When there is over 5+ people, I usually designate around 10-15 mins per person, which is generally enough time to get at least a handful of good shots.
Usually a company is looking for one good shot of each employee for their website, so if I can land 4-6 solid portraits of each employee and take my time retouching each one, that generally meets the needs of the portrait session. Afterward the company or employee can choose the image they think is strongest.
