Post #15 – DE Center for the Inland Bays
Since I was a kid, my family and I frequented the Delaware beaches. What I remember most about our trips is enjoying our time outdoors and exploring Rehoboth, Dewey, and the surrounding areas. I was always interested in the wildlife, especially diamondback terrapins and osprey, as well as the overall environment in the area. As I got older, I used to work in Rehoboth over the summer as an oyster shucker, now I go regularly with my friends and family. That’s why when DE Inland Bays reached out for a photography project, I jumped at the chance.
DE Inland Bays is a non-profit organization helping to protect and preserve the Bays of Delaware. This project was focused on creating photographs to feature in their fall publication, “Economic Valuation of the Inland Bays.” This publication is essential to the organization because it helps generates economic interest and donations for them to put towards future programs and education.
The goal was for me to capture business owners in action, residents enjoying themselves, and the diversity of wildlife. Because of the large scope of the project, DE Inland Bay’s communications specialist, Nivette, and Anna facilitated many of the photo sessions in the area who were absolutely fantastic to work with.
This was one of my favorite projects which combined my love for photography and the environment. I look forward to seeing the photos in use by DE Inland Bays social media and in print as well as photographing for more organizations like them in the future.
