Post #8 – Silva Contracting – Children’s Hospital, Washington, DC
This month, I had the opportunity to shoot for Silva Contracting, who specializes in renovating/creating healthcare, government and commercial spaces. The last time I was at Children’s Hospital was when I was a patient in 1996. I had reconstructive surgery on my left ear. Being a kid there isn’t usually a pleasant experience, so companies like Silva, make the space feel more like a home away from home.
I photographed two spaces: a resource center for kids, and a lounge/ cafeteria area for staff. Both relaxing spaces to hang out, eat or work.
I think a lot of contracting companies overlook the importance of documenting their work properly when it is finished, in its “prime” and creating a portfolio of past projects, including the smaller details. So it’s great to be helping a company like Silva show what kind of great work they do.
Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot –
