Post #9 – US Coast Guard Recruitment Campaign – Clearwater, FL
This September I was hired for my 5th shoot photographing for the USCG’s recruitment campaign. This time, a 5-day photoshoot, along with DCVisionaries video crew, Shane, Celene, and SunJae, outside of Tampa, FL. It was my first time with using underwater housing and photographing helicopters as well as out of airplanes. I photographed in the ocean with a pair of fins under the helicopter, with the rescue swimmer jumping out, and in the back of a C-130 doing test drops in the ocean as well as with the pilots in the cockpit. It was a bit of a learning curve on how to adapt to the new situations I was put in, but overall, I landed some great portraits and action shots that will help their recruitment efforts. First time working with an underwater housing and now I have a good idea of how things work.
Before the shoot I decided to rent the AF-S NIKKOR 180-400mm f/4E TC1.4 FL ED VR, which took my work to the next level and I was SUPER impressed how crisp and fast it was. Here are a few of my favorites!
